The University. —(1) There shall be established in the 5[State of Goa], a University by the name of “Goa University”. (2) The headquarters of the University shall be at 6[“Taleigao, Tiswadi Taluka, North Goa District”] and it may established campuses at such other places within its jurisdiction as it may deem fit. _____________________________________________________________________ 4clauses (16) and (20) have been deleted by (Amendment) Act 15 of 1988 (O. G. Series I No. 14 dated 7-7-1988). The omitted clauses read as follows: “(16) “Senate” means the Senate of the University;” “(20) “Union territory” means the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu.” 5These words “State of Goa” in this sections and in other section, wherever they occur are substituted for the words “Union territory”, Ibid. 6This expression has been substituted for the words “Panaji”, Ibid. 4 (1) The first Chancellor and the first Vice-Chancellor and the first members of the 6A[“Court”] the Executive Council and the Academic Council and all persons who may hereafter become such officers or members so long as they continue to hold such offices or membership are hereby constituted a body corporate by the name of “Goa University”. (2) The University shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the said name.
