Application for permission to use water from canal.— (1) Every person desiring to have a supply of water from a canal shall submit a written application to that effect to the Canal-Officer. (2) If the application be for a supply of water to be used for purposes other than those of irrigation, the Canal-Officer may, with the sanction of the Government, give permission for water to be taken for such purpose under such special conditions and restrictions as to the limitations, control and measurement of the supply as he shall be empowered by the Government to impose in each case. (3) An application for permission to use water from a canal for irrigation purposes shall be in Form 5. (4) An application for a supply of water for any purpose other than irrigation shall be made by a letter addressed to the Canal-Officer.
