Construction and maintenance of bunds and demarcation and preparation of land— (1) In each separate area of land for the irrigation of which sanction has been obtained— (a) the portion under irrigation shall, throughout the period of irrigation, be completely surrounded by bund not less than 0.30 metre high and of 0.30 metre top width and shall be formed into suitable plots; (b) on any common boundary between two areas irrigated under separate sanctions, two separate bunds need not be maintained. (2) The Canal-Officer may withhold the first supply of water in any area in which the provisions of sub-rule (1) are not complied with. (3) The application of water to land which is not prepared and maintained in accordance with sub-rule (1) shall constitute misuse of water within the meaning of clause (d) of section 22.
