Contract officers.— An absorbed employee appointed under a contract shall continue to be governed by the terms of that contract until the expiry thereof, and if the employee remains in service after such expiry the foregoing rules shall apply to him as they generally apply to absorbed employees subject to the modification that the appointed day for the purpose shall mean the day immediately following the date of expiry of the contract.
