(1) This Act may be called the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890. (2) It extends to the whole of India [1A[x x x x]] [x x x x]; [x x x x]. (3) It shall come into force on the first day of July, 1890. Subs. by Act 3 of 1951, sec. 3 and Schedule, for "except Part B States". Omitted by Act 34 of 2019. Prior to the omission it reads "except the State of Jammu and Kashmir" Repealed by the A.O., 1948, for the words "inclusive of British Baluchistan". The word "and" omitted by Act 40 of 1949, sec. 3 and Sch. II.
