Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898)1 an offence under this Chapter other than an offence punishable [under clause (i) of sub-section (1) of section 135 or under sub-section (2) of that section] may be tried summarily by a magistrate. See now the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974). Subs. by Act 36 of 1973, sec. 8, for "under clause (i) of section 135" (w.e.f. 01/09/1973).
