(1) This Act may be called the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. Came into force on 01/04/1987, vide S.O. 272 (E), dated 31st March, 1987, published in the Gazette of India, Extra., Pt. II, Sec. 3 (ii), dated 31st March, 1987.
