Section 17B

Provisions relating to jurisdiction

(1) No court inferior to that of a [Metropolitan Magistrate] shall try any offence punishable under section 17A. (2) No prosecution for such offence shall be instituted, except by an Inspector with the previous sanction of the Welfare Commissioner. (3) No court shall take cognizance of such offence, unless complaint thereof is made within six months of the date on which the offence is alleged to have been committed.] Ins. by Maharashtra Act 22 of 1966, sec. 7.
