Competent authority to have powers of Civil Court.- The competent authority shall have the same powers in making enquiries under this Act, as are vested in a court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (V of 1908), in trying a suit, in respect of : (a) admission of evidence by affidavits; (b) to issue summons for ensuring the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; (c) compelling the production of documents; (d) award of cost; (e) to call for any report or order for local enquiry; and (f) to issue commission for local enquiry or order examination of witnesses.
