(1) This Act may be called the Assam Nurses', extent and Midwives' and Health Visitors' Registration (Amendment) co~mence- Act, 1953, . me t. (2) It extends to the whol~ of Assam. (3Lit.shall come isto force at once. Amend- ~For section 4 of the principal Act, the following ~ent of sec- shall be substituted, namely :- ~~m 4 A~f "4. The Council shall consist of the following mem~ II of 1944. hers :- (1) the Inspector General of Civil Hospitals, Assam, who shall be the President ; (2) two nurses to be elected by the registered nurses ; (3) two midwives to be elected by the registered mid- wives : ( 4) two Nursing Superintendents to be elected -by the Nursing Superintendents of the Non-Government training Schools recognised by the Council ; (5) two matrons of the Government training schools to be nominated by the State Government ; (6) the Professor of Midwifery and Gynrecology of the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh ; (7) two medical graduates to be nominated by the State Government ; (8) the NursingJ)uperintendent attached to the office of the Inspector General of Civil Hospitals, Assam (who will ast.-ftS'"'Secretary of the Council)".
