AWARD, that is to say, a.ny deci- sion in writing by an arbitrator or umpire, not being an award directing a partition, on a reference made otherwise than by an order of the Court in the course of a suit- (a) where the amount or value of the property to which the ..1ward relates as set forth in such award does not exceed Rs.l,OOO ; (b) if it exceeds Rs.l,OOO but does not exceed Rs.S,OOO ; and for every additional Rs.l ,000 or part thereof in excess of Rs.5,000.
