(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor on the recommendation of an Advisory Board constituted by the Chancellor for the purpose, consisting of three members of whom one member shall be nominated by the State Government, one member to be nominated by the Chancellor and one member to be elected by the Executive Council. The Chancellor shall also appoint one of them as Chairperson of such Advisory Board. (2) The Advisory Board shall recommend a panel of names of three persons to the Chancellor, who may appoint one of the persons recommended, to be the Vice-Chancellor. If the Chancellor does not approve any of the persons recommended by the Advisory Board, he may .call for a fresh recommendation. (3) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole time officer of the University who shall hold office for a period of five years and shall be eligible for re-appointment. :(l Provided that notwithstanding the expiry of the aforesaid period of five years, he shall continue in office until his successor is appointed and enters upon his office.
