(1) Every police officer of or below the rank of Inspector shall on appointment receive an insignia and a certificate in the form as prescribed. The certificate shall he issued under the hand and Director General of Police or such officer as may be authorized by the Director General of Police. (2) The certificate of appointment shall become null and void, and the insignia shall be deemed to be withdrawn whenever the person named therein Ceases to belong to the 14 Police Force or shall remain imperative during the period such person is suspended from the service. (3) Such certification shall cease to have effect whenever the person named in it ceases for any reason to be a police- officer, and on his ceasing to be such an officer, shall be forthwith surrendered by him to any officer empowered to receive the same. A police officer shall not by reason of being suspended from office, cease to be a police-officer. During the term of such suspension, the powers, functions and privileges vested in him as a police-officer shall be in abeyance, but he shall continue subject to the same responsibilities, discipline and penalties and to the same authorities, as if he had not been suspended.
