(1) Election to constitute the Zilla Parishad shall be completed— (a) before the expiry of its duration, as specified in Section 68; (b) in case of dissolution, before the expiration of a fe period of six months from the date of such dissolution : Provided that where the remainder of the period for which the dissolved Zilla Parishad would have continued, is less than six months, it shall not be necessary to hold any election under this clause for constituting the Zilla Pari shad for such period. (2) A Zilla Parishad constituted upon dissolution be fore the expiration of its duration shall continue only for the remainder of the period for which the dissolved Zilla Parishad would have continued under sub-section (I) had it not been dissolved. 642 THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, MAY, 6, 1994 70' (1) When the Zilla Parishad is constituted under andvice- Section 64, the Deputy Commissioner shall call a meeting fhe’ziiia1 °f *he Zilla Parishad (which shall be called the first Padshad, meeting of the Zilla Parishad) for the election of a President and a Vice-President by and from amongst the members directly elected under Section 65 (1). s (2) The election of the President or the Vice-President of the Zilla Parishad and filling up vacancies in the said office and the determination of disputes relating to such election shall be in accordance with such rules as may be prescribed by the State Government/State Election Commission.
