Section 15

Imprisonment in default of security

Imprisonment in default of security.-(1) If any person ordered to give security under sub-section (9) of section 11 does not give such security on or before the date of the commencement of the period for which such security is to be given, or if the security of any person previously accepted is rejected under the provisions of section 14, he shall be committed to prison, or, if he is already in prison, be detained in prison until the date of expiry of such period or any earlier date on which he gives security as ordered. (2) If the security is tendered to the officer-in-charge of the Jail, he shall forthwith refer the matter to the Magistrate who made the order and shall await the orders of such Magistrate. ----------- ---- 1 Inserted by the Assam Opium Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1952, S.2. 6 (3) Im'prisonment for failure to furnish security under this Chapter sliaU be rigoreus.
