(1) This Act may be called the Assam Municipal extent and (Amendment) Act, 1996. commence- m e n t- (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment 2. In the principal Act, in section 15, in clause (ix), in the of first paragraph, for full stop (.) at the end, colon (:) shall be section 15. substituted and there after the following provision shall be inserted, namely :- "Provided that no person shall be disqualified on the ground that he is less than 25 years of age, if he has attained the age of 21 years". Repeal and 3. (1) The Assam Municipal (Amendment) Assam saving. Ordinance, 1996 is hereby repealed. Ordinance No. VI of 1996 (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Ordinance so repealed shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of this Act.
