Section 1

(1) This Act may be called the Assam Home Guards (Amendment) Act, 2015

(1) This Act may be called the Assam Home Guards (Amendment) Act, 2015. commence­ ment (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment 2. in the principal Act, in section 3, after sub-section (1), of section 3 the following new sub-section (1 A) shall be inserted, namely "(1A) Without prejudice to the generality of the provision of the sub-section (1), the Government may make rules requiring every member of the Home guards to,- (a) serve in aid of the Police Force and generally to help the maintenance of the security of the state ; (b) help the public during any emergency including natural calamities, fire or epidemic ; (c) render nursing and first aid ; and (d) facilitate the maintenance and transport services and the control of traffic and crowds." Amendment 3. in the principal Act, in section 4, in sub-section (2), for the of section 4 words "Inspector General of Police", the words "Commandant General of Home Guards" shall be substituted. Amendment 4. in the principal Act, in section7, in sub-section (2), for the of section 7 punctuation mark " . " appearing at the end, the punctuation mark " : " shall be substituted and thereafter the following proviso shall be inserted, namely :- THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, MAY 29, 2015 551 Amendment of section 10 "Provided that the period of reserve may be extended with the consent of the person, recorded in a prescribed manner, for a block of three years at a time after examining the physical fitness in a prescribed manner till he attains the age of 55 years." In the principal Act, in section 10, the punctuation mark " appearing at the end, the punctuation mark " : " shall be substituted and thereafter, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely "Provided that every member of Home Guard shall during the period of train ng or service in Home Guards receive from the Government or the employer as the case may be, such allowances as may be prescribed."
