(1) As soon as may be, after the com mencement of this Act, the State Go vernment shall by notification in the official Gazette, constitute for the pur poses of this Act, an Authority to be called "The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority” (hereinafter referred to jurisdiction over the Guwahati Metro politan Area. as the Authority) with THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRA-ORDINARY, NOV. 14, 1987 893 (2) The Authority shall ho a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal with power, subject to the provision of this Act. to acquire, hold and. dispose of properties bott>.moveable and immoveable and to enter into any agreement or contract, and shall by the said name sue and be sued Composition of the Guwa hati Metro politan Dev elopment Authority.
