The Academic Council shall have the following powers, namely :•—- («) to make proposals to the Executive Council for the institution of Professorships, Readerships, Lecturerships or other teaching posts, and in regard to the duties and emoluments thereof ; ■'/>) to make Regulations for, and to award in accordance with such Regulations, Fellowships, Scholarships, Exhibitions, medals and other rewards ; (c) to recommend examiners for appointments after report from the Faculties concerned ; , (d) to control the University Library,to frame Regulations regard­ ing its use, and to appoint a Library Committee under the general control of the Academic Council to manage the affairs of the Library ; (e) to assign subjects to the Faculties ; .(f) to assign teachers to the Faculties ; (g) to promote research within the University, including the establishment of a research Council and to require reports on such research from the persons employed thereon ; (/?) to provide for the inspection of Colleges and Halls in respect of the instruction and discipline therein, and to submit reports thereon to the Executive Council ; and (i) to organise the teaching of the University and to control the work of teachers and Colleges.
