(1) At least seven days before entering into any contract for the execution of any work or the supply of any materials or goods which will involve an expenditure exceeding five thousand rupees, the Commissioner shall give notice by an advertisement inviting tenders for such contract subject to the approval of the Standing Committee concerned. -» Explanation.—-In this sub-sectioa the expre »ion “contract” includes cash purchases. (2) On receipt of the tenders made in pursu­ ance of the notice given under sub-section (1) the Commissioner may, subject to the provisions of sections 95, 96 and 97, accept any tender which appears to him to be most advantageous.
