Section 48

(1) If a Councillor— (a) becomes disqualified for being a member by reason of the provisions of section 47 ; or (b) absents himself during three successive months from the meetings of the Cor­ poration except from temporary illness or other cause to be approved by the Corporation ; or (c) absents himself from, or is unable to attend, the meetings of the Corporation during six successive meetings for any cause whatever, whether approved by the Corporation or not; he shall cease to hold office as such and the Government, may, by notification in the official Gazette, declare his seat to be vacant. (2) »Vhen a C ouncillor ceases to hold office as such the Commissioner shall at once intimate in writing the fact to such Councillor and the Govern­ ment, and report the same to the Corporation at its next ensuring meeting. (1) Every person whose name is, for the time of voting0 b e i n « entered in the electoral roll for a ward, pre­ pared in the prescribed manner, shall be entitled to vote at the election of a Councillor from that ward. (2) Voting shall be by secret ballot and every elector shall have one vote. 60 General election of Councillors.
