(1) The Commissioner may in such cases as measure- the Standing Finance Committee may either oFwater tax ge n c r a ^y o r specifically direct, instead of levying water in certain tax in respect of any land or building liable thereto cases. under section 149 charge for the water supplied to such land or building by measurement at such rate as shall from time to time be specified in this behalf. (2) The Standing Committee may, for the cases in which the Commissioner charges for water supplied by measurement under sub-section (1), specify such conditions as it may think fit regarding the use of the water and regarding the charge to be paid for water consumed whilst a meter is out of order or under repair: Provided that no condition specified under this sub section shall be inconsistent with this Act or with any bye-law made thereunder. (3) A person who is charged for water supplied by measurement shall not be liable for payment of water tax, but any sum payable by him on account of water and not paid when it becomes due shall be recoverable by the Commissioner as an arrear of water-tax under this Act.
