Short title, exten t and co mmen cemen t,— (1) This Act may be called the Assam Ganja and Bhang Prohibition Act, 1958. (2) It extends to such area or areas as may be notified in the official gazette, by the State Government from time to time. (3) It shall come into force in the notified area or areas on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the official gazette, appoint. Provided th at the State Government may, by notification in the official gazette, restrict the operation of this Act or of any provision thereof in any notified area.
