Subject to such conditions or restrictions as may, if any, be specified by the State Government, the Settlement Officer or the Consolidation Officer may, for the purposes of this Act, require any person to produce any document, paper or register which is in his possession or under his control or to furnish information which he thinks necessary for the proper discharge of any of the duties under the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder.
