Whoever wilfully makes or causes to be made, for the purpose of being inserted in any register of births or deaths, any false statement touching any of the particulars required to be known and registered, shall be punishable with a fine not exceeding fifty rupees. The Magistrate may depute subordinate Magistrate to discharge his functions.
