(1) The Chancellor shall, as soon as may be of the Board, after the first Vice-Chancellor is appointed under the provision of sub-section (1) of section 19 take action to constitute the Board of Management. (2) The Board shall consists of the following members:— (a) The Vice-Chancellor—Ex-officio Chairman ; (b) Three Secretaries to the Government of Assam, viz-, the Secretary, Finance, the Secretary, Community Development Department and the Secretary, Agriculture and Veterinary ; 8 THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, JAN. 2, 1969 ’ w ' • • --------- ------ -------------------------. . . — - -■ .i ■ o (c) One eminent agricultural scientist with back ground of agricultural research <r education to be nominated by the Chancellor ; (d) Two progressive farmers or livestock • breeders ; (e) A distinguished industrialist or manufac turer having special knowledge in Agricul tural Development nominated by the State Government ; (f) One outstanding woman social worker , preferably having background of rural advancement nominated by the State Government ; (g) Three members of the Assam Legislative . Assembly to be elected by the Assembly ; (h) Two representatives of teachers, one from teachers teaching agriculture and the other from teachers teaching veterinary ; (i) The Director of Agriculture ; (j) The Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry ; and (k) A representative of Indian Council of Agri cultural Research. (3) The Vice-Chancellor shall he the Ex-officio Chairman and the Registrar the non-member Secretary of the Board. One-third of the members of the Board shall constitute quorum for the transaction of business provided all members had been given due advance notice of the meeting. (4) The term of office of the non-official members sha'l be five years, and such a member shal1 be eligible to serve for more than one term. (5) In case of a vacancy occurring before the expiry of the terms of given number, h>s successor shall serve the remaining unexpired portion of his term. (6) The members of the Board shall not be entitled to receive any remuneration from the University except such daily and travelling allowances as may be prescribed. P*wer»and
