If any person makes a statement in a ment in verification mentioned in section 19 or section 24 ~eel a ra- which is f.'llsc, and which he either knows or lion. believes to be false, or docs not believe to be true, he shall be deemed to have committed the offence described in section 177 of the Indian XLV ol Penal Code.
