(1) Not less than one-third of the total number of seats to be filled by direct election in every Gram Panchayats shall be reserved for women. (2) The Deputy Commissioner shall by notification determine the number of seats and constituency or constituencies in which seats are reserved under sub-section (i), above : Provided that the seats reserved under sub-sections (1) and (2) shall be allotted by rotation to different constituencies in the Gram Panchayats in such manner as may be prescribed .
