Powe.to Compound: (1)Subject to such conditions as may be prescribed, any offlcer authorized by the State Government by a general or special order in this behalf may, either before or after the institution of proceedings under thisAct, accept from the person who has committed or rs reasonably suspected of havrng committed an offen@. a sum of money not exceeding one lakh rupees.
