District Education Officers and other subordinate officers and staff at the district level. (1) The State Government may appoint for each District one or more District Education Officers, and every such District Education Officer shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as may be entrusted to him by or under this Act. (2) The State Government may sanction the appointment of such number ofofficers and staff as may be necessary to assist the District Education Officer. (3) The appointment to the posts sanctioned under sub-section (2) shall be made by such authority and in such manner as may be prescribed. ( 4) The powers and functions of the officers and staff appointed under this section shall be such as may be prescribed.
