The [Government1 shall not be responsible for any loss or damage which may occur in respect of any forest produce while at a revenue station established under a rule made under section 40, or while detained elsewhere for the purposes of this Regulation, or in respect of any timber collected under section 43 ; and no Forest Officer shall be responsible for any such loss or damage unless he shall have caused the same negligently, maliciously, or fraudulently.
