Power of the State Government : The State Govemment shallhave such pdwers as may be confened by this Act or the Shtutes made thereunder, it shall include follorving powers, namely : ('1) Notwithstanding anything contarned rn thrs Act, it shall be the duty of the UnMersity or any authority or officers of the Universityto fumish such information or records relatrng to the administration orfnance and other affairs of the University as the $ate Government may call fo( (2) The State Government shall, in every matter referred to in sub section (1), give notice of intention to cause an inspection or inquiry to be made, to the University, and the University shall have the right to make representations to the State Government, as jt may consider necessary (3) Where any inspection or in{uiry has been caused to be made by the State Government, the University shall be entitled to appoint a represenlative, who shall have the right to be present and be heard at such inspection or inquiry. (4) The State Government, if it is of the view that there is a violation of the provisions of this Act or the Statutes or the regulations made thereunder, may issue such directions to the University, as it may deem necessary. 370 (5) The Board of Governors shall communacate through the Vice- Chancellorto the State Govemmentsuch action, if any, as itproposes to take or has been taken upon the result of such inspection and inquiry. (6) The Shte Governmentmay, by order; directthatthe University shall reserve such percentage of seats therein forthe students belonging to the scheduled tribes and other backward classes as may be specilied in such orderand where such direction has been given the University shall make the reservation accordingly. Provided that, if adequate numbers of candidales are not available for admissrbn, t/,e seafs so reseNed shall be filled with the students from the general pool.
