The Registrar: (1) The Regiskar shall be the Principal Operations OfFrcerbf he University and shall be appointed by the Chance{lor for the term bf five years and shall be eligible for re-appointment. , Provided that the Registra.r sha retire on aftaining the age of sixty-two years. (2) The emoluments and other terms and conditions of employment of the Registrar shall be those contained in the contract of employment. (3) All contracts as defined in statutes shall be entered into underthe signature ofthe Registrar on behalf of the University. (4) The Registrar shallbe responsible for the due custody ofthe records and the common seal of the University and shall be bound to place before the Chancellor, the Vice.Chancellor or arry other authority, all such inrormation and documents as demanded. (5) The Registrar shall issue all notices convening meeting of the Board of Management, theAcademic Senate and the Finance committee or any committee appointed by the authorities ot the University. (6) The Registrai shall keep the minutes of all the meetings of Board of Management, theAcademic Senate and the Finance coniinittee or any comrnittee appointed by the authorities ofthe University. O) To conduct the official correspondence of the Board of Management, Academic Senate and Finance Committee. (8) ln all sult and other legal proceedings by or against the University, the pleadings shall be signed and verified by the Registrar and all processes in such suits and proceedings shall be issued to and be served on the Registrar (9) The Registrar shall have power to take disciplinary action against such of the employees, as may be specified in the order of the Board of Governors and to suspend them during pending inquiry, to givewarnings or impose penalty of censure orwithholding increment: 332 Provided that no such penalty shall be imposed unless the person has been given a reasonable oppoftunity of showing cause against the action proposed to be taken upon him. (10) An appeal shall lie to the Vice-Chancellor against any order of the Registrar imposing any of the penalties specified in sub-clause (9). (11) ln a case where the inquiry discloses that a punishment beyond the power of the Registrar is called for, the Registrar shall, upon the conclusion of the inquiry make a reference to the Vice-Chancellor along with his recommendations: Provided that an appeal shall lie to the Chancellor against an order of the Vice-Chancellor imposing penav and the decision of the Chancellor in respect o,'such lssue shall be final and binding on such person. (12) The Registrar shall be the ex-officio Secretary of Board of Management, the Academic Senate, the Finance Committee, Planning Board and all other authorities of the University except Board ofGovernors, but shall not be deemed to be a memberofany ofthese authorities. (13) The Registrar shall have the po\rrcr to authenticate records on behalf of the Universityand shallexercise such other poweBand perform such other duties as may be laid down by the statutes or may be assigned from time to time, by the Board of Governors, Chancellor orthe Mce-Chancellor. (14) The Chancellor is empowered to remove the Registrar. The Chancel- lor may suspend the Registrar during enquiry depending upon the seriousness ofthe charges as he deems fit. (15) . When the office of the Registrar is vacant orwhen the Registrar is, by reason of illness, absence or any othercause, unable to perform the duties of his omce, the duties ofthe office shall be performed by such person as the Chancellor may appoint for the purpose.
