Term of office of President, Vice-President and members – (1) The President or Vice-President shall hold office for a term not exceeding four years and not extending beyond the expiry of his term as a member. (2) Subject to the provisions of sub-section (1), a member shall hold office for a term of four years from the date of his election or nomination as the case may be, to the Council: Provided that such a member shall notwithstanding the expiry of the said period of four years continue to hold office until his successor is elected or nominated. (3) Member of the Council shall be eligible for re-nomination or re- election. (4) Where the term of four years in respect of any member of the Council is about to expire, a successor may be nominated or elected at any time within one month before the said term expires, but he shall not assume office until the said term has expired.
