Short title, extent and commencement - (1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh 1(XXXX) Slum Improvement (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1956. (2) 1[It extends to the whole of the State of Andhra Pradesh.] (3) It shall come into force 2[in any municipal corporation or municipality in the State] on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette appoint: Provided that, before issuing such notification the Government shall publish in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, a notice of their intention to do so, fix a period which shall not be less than two months from the date of publication of the notice 3[for the municipal corporation or the municipality concerned] to show cause against the issue of the notification and consider its objections, if any.
