Daily and weekly hours of work in shops - (1) Subject to other provisions of this Act, no employee in any shop shall be required or allowed to work therein for more than eight hours in any day and forty-eight hours in any week. 1[(2) Any employee may be required or allowed to work in a shop for any period in excess of the limit fixed under sub-section (1), on payment of overtime wages, subject to the following limitations: (i) The total number of hours of work, including overtime, in any day shall not exceed twelve; (ii) The spread over, inclusive of intervals of rest, shall not exceed thirteen hours in any one day; (iii) The total number of hours of work in any week, including overtime, shall not exceed sixty two; (iv) No employee shall be allowed to work overtime, for more than seven days at a stretch;
