Board of Faculties (1) The University shall have the Faculties of Technology, Management and such other Faculties as may be prescribed. (2) Each faculty shall comprise such departments with such assignment of subjects of study as may be prescribed. (3) Each Department shall consist of the following members, namely,- (a) Teachers of the Department; (b) Persons conducting research in the Department; (c) Dean of the faculty; (d) Honorary Professors, if any, attached to the Department; and (e) Such other persons as may be members of the Department in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinances. (4) there shall be a Board for each Faculty, the constitution and powers of which shall be prescribed. 39 (5) there shall be a Dean for each faculty of study who shall be appointed in such manner and for such period, as may be prescribed. (6) the Dean shall be the Chairman of the Board of the Faculty and be responsible for the faithful observance of the statutes and regulations relating to the Faculty and for the organization and conduct of the teaching, research and extension work of the departments comprised therein. (7) each department shall have a head, whose appointment, powers and duties shall be as prescribed, and who shall be responsible to the Dean for the proper organization and working of the department. (8) the constitution of the Board of faculties and the term of office of its members shall be prescribed by the Ordinances. (9) subject to the overall control and supervision of the Academic Council, the functions of the Board of faculties shall be to approve subjects for research for various degrees and other requirements of research degrees and to recommend to the concerned School Board or Executive Council in the manner prescribed by the Ordinances:- (a) courses of studies and appointment of examiners for post-graduate courses, but excluding research degrees; (b) appointment of supervisors of research; and (c) measures for the improvement of the standard of post- graduate teaching and research: Provided that the above functions of a Board of faculties shall, during the period of three years immediately after the commencement of the Act, be performed by the Department.
