Appointment of Inspectors

Appointment of Inspectors.-The appropriate Government may appoint Jnspeclors for the purposes of securing compliance with the provisions of this Act and any Inspector so appointed shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860). COMMENT The Inspectors appointed under section 17 would see that for each child employed in violiltion of the provisions of the Act, the concerned employer pays Rs. 20,000 which ~um could be deposited in a fund to be known as Child Labour Rehabilitation-cum- Welfilre Fund; M.C. Mehta v. State of Tamil Nadu, AIR 1997 SC 699.
